Kathleen Callison, J.D., M.M.A. is the company principal of Callison Water and Geothermal Consulting, offering over thirty years’ experience in natural resources-related planning, agreements, permitting and litigation, focused on water and geothermal resources, as well as utility planning and development and project administration.
GEOTHERMAL Ms. Callison recently led an international team of lawyers, geologists, engineers, and environmental experts in drafting a geothermal regulation for Ethiopia based on international models and best practices, in coordination with the Government of Ethiopia and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), with feedback from public- and private-sector stakeholders, and with funding from IFC. She also served as invited instructor in geothermal regulatory development and best practices at the ARGeo 6th African Rift Geothermal Conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in Fall of 2016. |
In 2015, Ms. Callison led a team that supported the Government of Ethiopia in drafting a geothermal law, with funding from the U.S. Energy Association (USEA). The law was passed by Ethiopia’s Parliament in 2016.
In 2012, Ms. Callison convened a working group of legislators and private sector developers to revise the geothermal law of Washington State in the U.S., and was the principal drafter of the revised law, which was adopted by the Washington Legislature in 2013. DISTRICT ENERGY Ms. Callison produced district energy and thermal energy recycling feasibility studies for municipal and university clients. WATER Ms. Callison assists clients with water-related plans, agreements, transactions and permits. She represents government clients in negotiating regional water agreements, and served as counsel in water-related litigation before the State of Washington’s Supreme Court. |
